#114.5 A New Look 2.0
This is take two of revamping my website. This time I am incredibly pleased with the result. The first person that I hired from Upworks, although he stated Squarespace as being an area of expertise for him, was an unmitigated disaster [as some of you may have noticed :-) ]. I’m not angry or anything. That is a useless emotion. But it took almost 6 months [with constant prodding on my part], cost me $750, and what was delivered was basically unattractive and unusable.
The lady, Hannah Hageman [swiftfoxco.com], to whom I had been referred a couple of years before and had forgotten when I was revisiting the idea of refreshing my website, was nothing short of amazing. I was hesitant about doing this call after being burned once by an online hire, but my fears were totally unfounded. In 50 minutes, she completely revitalized and redid the website, leaving me with something that was almost exactly what I was looking for. Her in-depth knowledge of Squarespace, combined with her innate aesthetic sense of what looks good, let me to a result that left me utterly pleased with the decision to hire her.
I do realize of course, that the website is fairly simple, and during the rework, I simplified it even further, but her ability to just get this stuff done was stunning. We did a Zoom video call, and she had her screen shared to me so that she I could see what she was doing on the editing of the website. Even while she was explaining what she was doing she was executing so quickly I could barely follow what she was doing. I just knew that the results were breathtaking. She was straightforward, professional, and expert. A rare combination.
And she left me with a website that I felt confident going in and editing and showing to the world again. I can’t thank her enough for that. I would recommend her without hesitation to anyone wanting work done on a Squarespace site.
So please, everybody, if you have comments on the way the website looks now, please let me know. I hope you like it as much as I do, but all comments welcome.
